TRAVIS STEINKA
Well-Bean Educator
When Travis is not working as an occupational therapist for My MidMichigan Health he enjoys spending time with his 3 kids, Finn, Olivia and Myles and his wife, Melissa. Travis began his career as an Occupational Therapist working in Special Education and then became a Teacher, moving to Las Vegas and teaching Kindergarten for 2 years before returning to Midland. It was teaching Kindergarten that Travis discovered his passion for mindfulness. What began as “the 5 second rule” evolved into a mindfulness based approach to helping students respond skillfully to emotions as opposed to habitually reacting. He noticed the benefits his kids experienced and decided to use this approach to help deal with his own chronic stress and anxiety. It’s profound impact on his own health has led him to teach and present these approaches to people of all ages, including at Universities and Kindergartners! Travis has a real passion for all things health related! We're grateful to him share his insight, skills, and enthusiasm with students and teachers in our Mind-Body-Grow program!
