To root or ground describes the action of finding steadiness in your foundation. It's a technique that helps keep you in the present and helps orient you to the here and now. It's a set of self-soothing skills to use when dealing with stress, anxiety or overwhelm. ROOT is a yoga, meditation and relaxation class to help youth ages 11-14 explore and discover their innate ability to root and manage life's ups and downs. See below FAQ and more information **

FAQs**
What will class be like?
We’re mixing a little learning (think ideas and concepts) with lots of doing (think yoga, meditation and relaxation) to create a class that’s mind/body balanced. The yoga practice will be both gentle and playful, set to music, with restorative yoga and candlelight to end class. The learning will focus on skills that when practiced frequently can help shape and train the brain for positive mental health. Our Well-Bean educator Paige Cranick will guide you through class that includes simple yoga postures, meditation practices and breathing techniques for relaxation.
What if my 11-14 year old feels nervous about attending?
We know that it takes courage to try something new so we’re setting the intention to provide a nurturing environment that will be waiting for you when you arrive!
Feeling part of a group and connecting with others even for a night can be meaningful. This is a group experience, so we’ll be working to create a brave space, where everyone belongs and feels welcomed.
What do I need to bring?
We'll have the space set up with Well-Bean yoga mats but you are welcome to bring your own as you desire. A water bottle is optional to keep you hydrated. Dress comfortably and perhaps in layers. If you have a favorite blanket you can bring that too for relaxation at the end (we'll have blankets available too.)
